John Henry 'Jack' Buenger was born on March 8, 1902 in Mount Carroll, Illinois according to his Concordia, River Forest, Illinois school year book. However, his marriage certificate states that he was born in Schulenburg, (Swiss Alp), Texas. He was a descendent of one of the groups that came from Saxony in 1839 to Perry County, Missouri.The founders of the Missouri Synod. Upon graduation in 1924 he accepted a call to be a teacher at Immanuel. He was married to Martha Gramze on April 14, 1928.
