Gustav Adolph George Scheiderer was born in Marysville, Ohio on January 10, 1894. After elementary school, Mr. Scheiderer enrolled in the Evangelical Lutheran Normal School in Addison, Illinois. This school is now Concordia University Chicago. After his graduation from Addison in 1913, he was called to a small one room country school in New Palestine, Indiana where he taught until 1919. Mr. Scheiderer then moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he taught at St Peter's Evangelical Lutheran School for six years. On August 9, 1920, he married Alma Burandt of Cleveland, Ohio. While attending Addison, Mr. Scheiderer had Herbert L. Kern and Theodore C. Grotrain as schoolmates. These three were again united when Mr. Scheiderer came to Immanuel in Bristol in 1925. He taught at Immanuel for twenty - eight years. He resigned in 1953 after serving for forty years in the teaching ministry. In addition to his teaching duties at Immanuel, he took on the roll of church organist, congregation secretary, and co-superintendent of the English Sunday School with Mr. Wulff.
