The first teacher to be called by Immanuel was Charles F. Jessen in 1898. He taught at Immanuel from 1898 to 1900. Mr. Jessen was a graduate of Addison, Illinois Teacher's College of River Forest. Mr. Jessen and Pastor Duessel were the first teachers of Immanuel Lutheran School. The first teachers faced a tremendous task. Until 1906, each teacher taught all eight grades with the help of the Pastor.
