Thomas Kern grandson of Herbert L. Kern, teacher and principal at Immanuel Lutheran School from 1912 to 1958, encouraged his father Herbert M. Kern to write some of his memories of Immanuel Lutheran Church and School.

The clock is an 8" X 10" walnut plaque with a quartz movement and was engraved with the clock face and a representation of the church and school. It has the text "Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bristol, Connecticut, 1892 - 1992".
